On the afternoon of Nov. 19, Ms Elie, senior project consultant from Digni and Ms Birgith, region consultant from Areopagos visited Home of Grace under Nanjing YMCA. When they were there, the participants were doing handicraft; later, Wang Yanjin, director of HOG made work report of review two and half year’s project situation. Because this was the first time for Ms Elie being in Nanjing, after watching the presentation, she had a deep and perceptual intuition understanding of the project to help the disabled, and satisfied with the progress of the project and the work have being done by Nanjing YMCA. She copied the photos of the activities and would bring back to Norwayfor sharing. Later, the visitors inquired about the general situation about the social work, such as serving the elderly, and the youth with interests and gave high comments.
On the morning of Nov. 20th, the guests visited Nanjing Disabled Persons’ Federation, received by director general Xie Dejun and inspector Liu Jinrong and section chief of education and employment, Zhang Liang. Director general Xie expressed his praise to the support to the disabled from Digni and Areopagos; section chief Zhang, on behalf of NDPF made a detailed introduction about the cooperation and situation and the plans on helping the handicapped with Nanjing YMCA. Inspector Liu made a conclusion that the cooperation withNorwayis successful, the relationship among the parties are beyond the friendship, just like family. He used “6 Very” to conclude the cooperative relationship among NDPF, YMCA and Norway on serving the disabled, very welcomed, very grateful, very important, very profound, very harmony and very valuable, and hoping this project would be continued after 2016. At noon, the delegations and the guests had lunch together in the canteen of NDPF.
In the afternoon, the guests went to Truls Eco Garden of Farming Treatment to the Disabled”, while Yuanmeng Foster Center of Rehenanlu had activates there. Two guests had a conversation with the teachers, parents and volunteers from this centre. And got to know about the situation of the mentally and psycho disabled and the individual family. At last, the participants presented the gift-handmade pottery and doll to the guests fromNorway.
The visit made the guests known the improvement of self-caring and social integration after trained by Home of Grace and the farming treatment. They spoke highly of the effort of Nanjing YMCA on helping the disabled, would share with others about what they had seen and what they had heard.
