From Aug. 10th to 15th, 2013, Nanjing YMCA cooperated with Study Ability Research andTrainingCenterfor students from primary to middle schools, organized exchange visiting team toSingapore. Led by Zhao Dongshu and Mu Hong from YMCA and Xi Minghai, a special grade physical education teacher. The visit group consists with 14 pupils and 10 parents.
On the morning of Aug. 13th, the visiting group fromNanjingarrived at the office of YMCA of Singapore, warmly received by vice president, Xi An, teacher Zhang Qin all the staff. After knowing the education system exists inSingaporeand the procedure of applying for study in middle school inSingapore, the visiting group involved the English skill class with fun. The parents were interested in the English training program conducting by YMCA, and wished their children would have more opportunities to experience this kind of training.
In the afternoon, associate general secretary, Ms Yang Qinling of Singapore YMCA accompanied the group to theDevelopmentCenterfor the Pupils in The Queen Town Primary School, having an exchanging activity with local children, through the game of broke ice, the sense of strange was removed among the children.
The pupils from two cities performed different style of civil art, Jasmine, a folk song popular in Jiangsu, and Chinese traditional martial art—short stick were performed by the children from Nanjing, which won lot of applause from teachers and students from Singapore.
Hands in Hand holding the YOG was a song –dance, the pupils fromSingaporealso were involved in performance, not only broadcastNanjing, but also enhance the communication within both cities. The exchanged activity was end with famous song Songs and Smile and by exchanging gifts to each party.
This is the first time for both YMCA fromSingaporeand fromNanjingto visit and understand the service conducted by each other.
YMCA of Singapore is located atWujie Rd, business center, the service including for the youth, the elderly, the handicapped and hotel, etc. The youth service focuses on camping activity, swimming, fitness and dance training; junior college ( the third enrollment among wholeSingapore). NBA training class ofBritishUniversity, serving the oversea students to have examination counseling before entering higher education. Because they have real estate in down town area, that the hotel and education business are benefitting, so that they provide support the YMCAs inBurmaandVietnamand other countries inSoutheast Asia. During the conversation,Singaporesaid they would increase cooperation withNanjingin youth service, and welcomed the delegation fromNanjingcome to study the management on the elderly home inSingapore.
Jinghua YMCA of Singapore is located atSteven Rd, down town area, owning a hotel, and swimming training, also focus on serving the young people, running 12 kindergartens in-chain, the education quality is approved by local government and citizens. They wished to have an opportunity to co-work with Nanjing YMCA to open kindergarten inNanjing.
During the communication, the delegation fromNanjingcommended highly on the landscaping inSingapore– the garden city, and felt the cherish to their home, and hard work on keeping environment. All these are helpful to Nanjing YMCA to improve its service undoubtedly.
